| 3 | cups | mashed potatoes | |
| 3 | pounds | pork | lean, ground |
| 1 | cup | water | |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | nutmeg | |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | allspice | |
| 1 | tablespoon | salt | |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | black pepper | |
| 1/2 | cup | onion | chopped |
| 1 | x | pastry | for 2 pies |
In a saucepan, combine the ground pork, water, nutmeg, allspice, salt, pepper and onion.
Cook over moderate heat for 30 minutes, stirring often to prevent sticking.
Remove from heat; add the mashed potatoes; and mix well.
Cool.
Fill two pastry-lined plates;adjust top crusts, slashing pastry to allow for the steam to escape as the pies bake.
Bake in a hot oven, 425 degrees F for 40 minutes.
Serve hot or cold.

Turmeric is what gives curry it's brilliant colour. Now it may be protecting children against leukemia......
I served this as a side dish with a coconut chicken curry and Thai spring rolls. It was an amazingly good salad. Everyone asked me for the recipe. I highly recommend it. (I did, however, substitute fresh cilantro for the watercress and I really think that made it.)
