| 1 | pound | beef | lean, bottom round steak, trimmed of fat and cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces |
| 1 | each | onion | chopped |
| 1 | each | garlic clove | finely chopped |
| 1 | tablespoon | jalapeno pepper | finely chopped |
| 1 | tablespoon | prepared mustard | |
| 1 | tablespoon | soy sauce, light | |
| 1 | teaspoon | coconut flavouring | |
| 1 | teaspoon | coriander | ground |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | ginger | ground |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | cumin | ground |
Combine ingredients in an electric crockery cooker and stir gently to coat meat evenly.
Cover and cook at low setting according to manufacturer's directions, until meat is very tender--about 12 to 18 hours.
Serve with brown rice and steamed vegetables if desired.
