| 3/4 | cup | butter | at room temperature |
| 1 3/4 | cups | sugar | |
| 2 | large | eggs | |
| 2 | cups | flour, all-purpose | |
| 1/2 | cup | cocoa powder | |
| 1/4 | cup | malted milk powder | |
| 1 1/4 | teaspoons | baking soda | |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | salt | |
| Frosting | |||
| 1/2 | pint | whipped cream | |
| 6 | tablespoons | powdered sugar | |
| 6 | tablespoons | malted milk powder | |
Place butter and sugar in bowl.
Using electric mixer, mix butter and sugar together until mixture is light and creamy.
Add eggs and vanilla; beat l minute at medium speed.
Combine flour, cocoa, malted milk powder, baking soda and salt; add alternately with water to butter-egg mixture.
Pour batter into two buttered and floured 8 inch cake pans.
Bake at 350 degrees F. 35 min. or until test done.
Cook and frost.
For the frosting, whip the cream, then add remaining ingredients slowly.
