| 1/2 | cup | butter | or margarine |
| 1/2 | cup | cocoa powder | |
| 1 | cup | brown sugar | packed |
| 2 | large | eggs | |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | vanilla extract | |
| 1/2 | cup | flour, all-purpose | |
| 1/2 | cup | walnuts | chopped |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | salt |
Melt the butter or margarine in a medium saucepan.
Remove from heat and stir in the cocoa.
Stir in the brown sugar, then beat in the eggs and the vanilla extract.
Blend in the flour, the walnuts, and the salt.
Spread evenly in a grased 8 inch square pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F from 20 to 25 minutes.
Cool and frost.

I just made this coffee cake this afternoon and it is very good. A scoop of icecream would be really good!! However, just a note to everyone that it calls for 4 teaspoons of salt. I think this is a typo. I used 1/2 teaspoon and it was really good - I really do think 4 teaspoons would be way too much.
