| 1 1/4 | cups | flour, all-purpose | |
| 3/4 | cup | sugar | granulated |
| 1/4 | cup | cocoa powder | |
| 1/4 | cup | margarine | softened |
| 1 | teaspoon | baking powder | |
| 1 | teaspoon | baking soda | |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | salt | |
| 2 | each | egg whites | |
| 1 | teaspoon | vanilla extract | |
| 1 | cup | water | hot |
| 2 | teaspoons | powdered sugar |
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Measure first 10 ingredients into mixing bowl in order given.
Beat until smooth.
Pour into 9 x 9 inch pan that has been sprayed with no stick cooking spray.
Bake in oven for about 30 to 35 minutes until an inserted wooden pick comes out clean.
Serve warm or cool.
If serving cool, sift icing sugar over cake.

Do not add 2 tsp of salt....maybe was a typo. I put in 1 tsp and it was more than adequate
