Ingredients

3/4 cup vegetable shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
1 cup bananas mashed
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups cake flour sifted
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup pecans chopped

Directions

Cream together shortening and sugar until fluffy.

Add eggs; beat 2 minutes.

Add mashed bananas; beat 2 minutes. Sift dry ingredients together; add to creamed mixture along with buttermilk and vanilla.

Beat 2 minutes.

Stir in nuts. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch round layer cake pans.

Bake 25-30 minutes. Cool layers. Fill and frost as desired.
