| 1 | cup | brown sugar | |
| 1 | cup | sugar | |
| 1 1/2 | cups | vegetable shortening | |
| 12 | each | egg yolks | |
| 2 | teaspoons | baking powder | |
| 3 | teaspoons | orange extract | or lemon or vanilla |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | salt | |
| 1 | teaspoon | baking soda | |
| 3 1/2 | cups | flour, all-purpose |
Cream sugars with shortening, add egg yolks and stir. Mix in baking powder, extract, salt, baking soda and flour.
Roll in a ball and roll in sugar. Flatten with a glass.
Bake at 350 F for 7-12 minutes.
